Fishing Owl's Newsletter

1st Quater of 2006

Dear fellow anglers,

I must apologise for not sending out recent circulars but the site is done as a service to anglers and like all of us I still have to earn a living.

The notice of a meeting herewith to get action concerning the criminal pollution of our freshwater, which has now gone too far needs you all to attend

Not only do we have to protect our sport but act to prevent the threat to all who use water in this country.

Anglers are also being ridden roughshod over  by the authorities and when the draft of The Bio Diversity Act is published all anglers are in for a very rude shock.

Read the following please and hope to see you there.

Invitation to all concerned
Enough is Enough!

Our country’s rivers are heavily polluted - full of rubbish and sewage. Thousands upon thousands of fish, including the endangered Largemouth Yellowfish, has died after raw sewage has been dumped into the Vaal River! Fish are mutating in the North West Province because of radio-active radiation!  In the North fish are changing sex as a result of chemical waste!  The fish populations in the Welkom Pans have been annihilated!  There is raw sewage in Bloemhof Dam!  We should all be aware of this and be duly worried. We cannot, allow this situation to continue and must act immediately!
Enough is Enough!

Eco-Care Trust has been involved with the protection of our dams, rivers and eco-systems for the past 10 years.  During this period we have worked closely together with anglers all over South Africa – anglers who are the eyes and ears at our waters.  We can only succeed if we form a united front.  WE NEED TO STAND TOGETHER TO SAVE AND PROTECT OUR ANGLING WATERS!

Enough is Enough!

Eco-Care has embarked on programme together with all role players to establish the causes of pollution and how to solve it.  This programme cannot be successful without the support and mandate from the angling fraternity.  We need your input!  We therefore invite you to a public meeting to be held at:

Place:   Mias Anglers Corner, Woodmead (JHB)
Date:    26 Maart 2006
Time:    13h00
