Hi Fellow Anglers,

A lot of publicity has been given to global warming. If one ignores most of it and only takes notice of just a tiny bit, the impact on Mother Earth is going to be dramatic. Strangely enough if one gives some serious thought to it the increased use of the inter-net is going to make a considerable impact on the reduction to the lessening of the impact of global warming.

It is high time that the government stops the monopolistic situation existing in this country and wakes up to the fact that if nothing else every school child should have access to the net in the schools with lectures given by experienced teachers to improve the standard of education in the country which is deteriorating at an alarming rate.

The old belief that fly-fishing is only for those with loads of money and trout are the only freshwater fish that can be caught on fly is a lot of nonsense that has put a lot of potential fly fishers off. ALL of our freshwater fish can be caught on fly using cost effective tackle.

Top Limpopo Provincial in conjunction with the RPA anglers are holding a FREE introduction to fly fishing for juniors on the 14th of June in Benoni on the East Rand of Gauteng.

Parents are also welcome and can participate if they wish. A bring and braai with fires supplied will be held during the break.

Those with their own tackle must please bring it along. For those without tackle a limited amount will be available.

The event will start at 9 a.m. Booking will be on a first come first basis.

Book by emailing terryb@fishingowl.co.za or cell: 083 453 4127 and please indicate how many will be coming.

Interested in “bollie” fishing, or ever asked the question what is “bollie” fishing? Please note that the same venue will also be used for an open day, which the RPA Specimen Section in conjunction with some top SA anglers will be hosting on Thursday 9th August, yes the public holiday. The day will be dedicated to one of the most popular European sports of angling bollie fishing and specimen hunting.

There will be easy competitions and prizes plus demonstrations by the Carp Crazy bunch, the famous South African Nel brothers Derrick & Marcel, they will be donating 2 of their latest DVD’s as prizes. There will be a bring & braai lunch, fires supplied. Included in the days events video’s on large screen, rigs, pods and of course “bollie” recipes if you don’t know what I am talking about contact Dave Favel cell: 0828550447 to book. Times 7:00 am until when? the last one leaves of course.
