Conversation: winter vaal yellow fishing
Fished this Saturday, there was a few hours of good weather, before the cold set in again. Check the visibility. Got a nice 3.3kg sm, and missed a twitch. There was no visible hatches. Fish was caught on the scum line just 5meters in front of a weed bed were there is a drop-off/hole of about 1,5meters. Caught it on #16 PTN, in tandem with weighted copper john and 3.7kg leader,12ft leader being used. Caught in bothaville area at a place I christened “yellow fish peninsula”. Fish took out 10-15meters backing, and 6wt rod used.
I truly think there must be largies in that water.
