After an absence of a year - that's Garth and I – we are once again operating the Shamwari Houseboat on the Upper Zambezi River.
I will be responsible for the reservations and marketing side of things as well as ensuring that our guests are relaxed and comfortable, well fed and the beers are kept ice-cold.Garth besides the upkeep and maintenance of the houseboat, tender-boats and pontoon will ensure that the fishing guests catch those trophy size Tigerfish and bream.
Of course our priority will once again be to ensure that all our guests, whether fishermen or not are comfortable, well looked after and join us for an unforgettable SHAMWARI EXPERIENCE!!!
The cost of petrol being the ridiculous price that it is inspired us to purchase a six meter pontoon boat powered by a 100hp four-stroke outboard to convey arriving and departing guests to and from wherever the Shamwari is moored on the Zambezi. This will certainly be a great fuel saver for our guests. The Shamwari, the accompanying tender-boats and the pontoon boat are powered by well maintained Yamaha four-stroke outboard motors which are exceptionally fuel efficient. By mooring the Shamwari in close proximity to productive fishing localities on the river excessive fuel usage as well as extensive travelling time is eliminated as anglers are virtually “ fishing on their doorstep”
The Shamwari will operate on the Zambezi between Katima Mulilo and Impalila Island located approximately 120 kilometres downstream thereby affording anglers the opportunity to fish remote localities such as False Mwandi, Mwandi, Golden Pond, Jo Jo's and Nantungu which are renowned for producing trophy tigerfish in the 8 kilogram range.
The Shamwari will, for the convenience of guests, have available for sale on board at very reasonable prices a variety of fishing lures and spoons which Garth who has 14 years of fishing experience on the Zambezi has found to be the most productive. Rods and reels can also be hired on a daily basis. Garth will be available on board to offer assistance and advice thus ensuring anglers have every chance of landing that dream Tigerfish.
The Shamwari is truly a home from home and has all the facilities to ensure that your stay with us is comfortable and relaxing. Accommodation is in twin bedded upper-deck cabins with mosquito nets, air conditioning and spectacular views of the Zambezi and the surrounding floodplains.
DSTV is available to sport fans and guests wishing to keep up to date with events in “the other world”.
On the foredeck a jacuzzi is situated where guests can cool off in the heat of the day or enjoy a refreshing sundowner in the evenings whilst relaxing and watching the spectacular sunset over the Zambezi River.
Wholesome and delicious meals are prepared and cooked in our on-board kitchen and served in the dining room. Guests can also enjoy an evening sandbank braai under the starlit African sky.
An assortment of beers, wines, spirits, still water, cordials and ice is kept aboard for purchase by guests.
The Upper Zambezi with its vast floodplains teeming with bird life, the ever present hippos and rivers oldest inhabitants-the crocodiles is really worthy of a visit so if you feel you need a well deserved break from “life in the fast lane” please contact us and we will ensure you experience the wonders of this water paradise. You are guaranteed our personal attention and hospitality.
