THE 20 POUND CLUB

With the Duma Tiger Safari season kicking off yesterday, we are please to announce the launch of the "20 Pound Club" to celebrate and reward guests who land tiger fish over 20lb on fly on either the Mnyera or Rhudji Rivers this season. If last seasons results, and our preliminary work this year, are anything to go by, we are hoping for a club with more than just a handful of members.... And who knows, this fishery is of such class, that a 30lb fish is a not-too-remote possibility!

20 Pound Club - Mnyera and Rhudji Rivers, Tanzania

All fly fisherman who manage to land a tiger fish of over 20lb on fly will automatically become members of  the 20lb Club. Members will be given a complementary A4 photograph of their tiger fish printed on canvas, and professionally framed, including the fly they caught the fish on. The frame will include a plaque with guest’s names, fish’s weight, date, and the river it was landed and released on. A dedicated "20 Pound Club" page will also be added to the webiste, detailing all members and their catches, and allowing  guests to comments on their catch. Tourette Fishing's pro guides will be keeping a comprehensive catch register of every fish landed and released over our 3 month season, so no data will be lost. This information will also allow us to fine tune our management of this fishery for seasons to come

With the 2009 season fully booked, we have begun taking bookings for 2010. The season runs from the 15 August - 15 November 2010.  Please contact keith@tourettefishing.com for details.

Okavango Catfish Run - Tiger Fishing Mayhem

Lionel, our head guide on the Okavango River, has just returned from the Okavango River following a pre season scouting trip.  Report backs are very positive. With water levels dropping steadily, as well as bird and catfish activity on the increase, this season is set to be a bumper. We look forward to treating guests to the excellent tiger fishing the catfish run is renowned for.  We still have six rods available over the season. Details of which are: 9 to 15 Oct - 2 rods and 15 - 20 Oct 4 rods.  For more information contact keith@tourettefishing.com or on +27 84 622 2272

St. Joseph's, Seychelles

The 2009/10 St Josephs season gets underway in little more than 8 weeks time.  As mentioned in a previous news letter; the new Africat 420 we will be using for the season offers unmatched mobility and practicality for our liveaboard charters to St Jo's this year.  With no overnight stays in Mahe, an extra days fishing due to the speed of the boat, and options to fish both Poivre and St Joseph's on an 8 day charter the 2009/10 package is very well balanced; and at just R30K/p offers unbeatable value!  For all fly fishing junkies longing to stalk bonefish and permit on remote tropical flats, this option is ideal.   We still have rods available on the 13 - 23 Nov week, and are taking bookings for February and March 2010.  Don’t hesitate to get in touch with keith@tourettefishing.com for full details on this package and available dates.
