Shayamanzi

Welcome aboard!

This is your Captain Bramson speaking. Charge your glass with a Shayamanzi Soother, kick off your shoes and breathe out slowly as you let the cares of your busy life slip away allowing the peace and splendour of a Shayamanzi cruise enrapture your soul.

The stylish Shayamanzi, cruises on the unspoilt expanse of Lake Jozini's waters (Pongolapoort) in Northern KwaZulu Natal wilderness. She makes passage from the Pongola River mouth into the Lake, alongside the age-old Lebombo Mountains en route to the still, crystal waters of the gorge. The lure of the tiger fish and the call of the Fish Eagle beckons you to experience this unique cruise.

Enjoying this magic of our first 2000 hours of cruising, are bevies of buoyant fisherman, many corporate getaway groups and prize winning incentivised groups with some serious team-building sessions around the pub or in the Jacuzzi until early hours of the morning! Pete Becker very daringly joined his mates for his Bulls Party weekend while Sue and Rob Horny, had a romantic, peaceful honeymoon having booked the Houseboat exclusively for their pleasure.

Registered by the South African Marine Authority to carry 100 passengers, she was the perfect venue for Daly and Christa Terblanche's wedding. The sunset over the Shayamoya hills and elephants on the near shore provided the perfect backdrop for the most beautiful wedding photos. Hippos interrupting the couple saying their wedding vows added some pretty good off-the-cuff humour to the ceremony.

'Taming the tiger' fish is not easy but Captain Bramson and his crew have landed more than a few trophy specimens on the boat, like this 5kg caught by Bramson on 7 December 2002 and only half an hour later, Ithala Bank guest, Chris Trosee landed a 5.5kg beauty.

This year Nampack L&CP invited their top customers in mid October. Within a few hours of boarding Shayamanzi, Gary Seale, Nampack L&CP's Marketing Director, landed our record fish of 2003, a 4kg tiger fish.

Jack Prentice shows his 2 kg catch of early October, while Thea Giem shows the boys how its done with her 2.5 kg tiger!

Shayamanzi's commitment to ongoing improvement took the form of many upgrades this year including an aft deck roof extension, tender boat winch system, a larger water pump and modernized electric system. Her all round excellence recently earned her the 5-crystal award on the South African Bureau of Standards grading system.

Almost last, but certainly not least; the people that bring Shayamanzi to life: Behind the scenes: Brian Blevin who threw caution to the wind and launched Shayamanzi; his entrepreneurial spirit recently placed him as a finalist in the Ithala Bank Entrepreneur of the Year; the partners who cast their resources into unchartered waters and Roger Blevin, the managing partner who keeps the whole project surging ahead. His team on board: Nguni; Bramson's right hand and a keen fisherman, Thandi; ensuring your comfort in a clean, cared for environment, Mike our chef; who makes mouthwatering fare, and Captain Bramson whose unrivalled enthusiasm, energy, skill and captivating smile ensure that your best expectations are always exceeded.
